Dr Daniel Belsky is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at Columbia University and Director of the Geroscience Computational Core at the Robert N. Butler Columbia Aging Center. His research examines how genetic, environmental and social factors shape health across the life course, with a particular focus on developing methods to measure the pace and progress of biological ageing. His work brings together epidemiology, genomics and behavioural science to investigate healthy ageing and the factors contributing to differences in healthspan.
Dr Belsky’s research examines why people age at different rates and how biological ageing can be measured across the life course. By combining approaches from epidemiology, genomics, behavioural science and public health, his work seeks to improve understanding of the factors that shape healthy ageing and inform future research and interventions, with particular interests including:
Biological ageing and ageing biomarkers
Genetic, environmental and social influences on health
Epidemiology and population health
Genomics and behavioural science
Healthspan and inequalities in ageing

As a member of HOOKE’s Scientific Advisory Board, Dr Belsky advises the team on developments in biological ageing research, drawing on his expertise in ageing biomarkers, epidemiology and population health. He is also available to consult directly with HOOKE members on special request.
